| When you think of Tahoe what do you see? Some say water some say the lake I say snow. This 99-2000 season has been, to say the least, not the most memorable for snow. I only possess a limited chronological knowledge of the area but my spoiled mind demands satisfaction. I need only to fly, if I am able to escape the gravitational forces that bind me, if only for a brief moment, my desire is quelled. So in this ecological plight we face we must make the best of it. In this respect the recreational mountains in the area hold the power to act and satisfy the masses. There is a short list, in the North Lake Tahoe area, of resorts that are in action and are catering to the tourists and locals alike with progressive halfpipe snowboarding and skiing available. |

So far Northstar has rose above the rest in regards to the halfpipe. Great effort has been taken in providing and anticipating the lack of snow. The product that the park staff has been able to produce has risen the expectations of the whole northlake community. We not only expect this facility to be available we have grown to demand it as well. So I take great joy in telling of my inspiring experience with friends once again, at the pipe. |
| So we (Todd Freijtas, Keith Lober, Jesse Britton, Dean Parra, True Love) traveled to northstar not quite knowing what to expect. As we exited the gondola our eyes were not deceived. What was this that stood so majestically before us, but a real honest to goodness, tranny-wielding halfpipe. As we hiked in wonder our minds were inundated with expectations of riding levels reached at the end of the season past. We strapped in as fast as we could. Instantly the session was on. We smiled as we raced to the walls. Quickly we were reminded how fun it is to be scared. Many lives in Tahoe revolve around this simple rush. To be scared is to live and to accept this fear and relish in it is to thrive. |

In this realm we walk the path mentally and physically. This path of progression may lead to enlightenment or pain; you must make the choice. On this day we chose life. You see, we devote our lives to this. It's not a game to us. It's an obsession. We don't want to ride we need it. It's kinda like crack addiction. No matter how much it hurts we strive to have more of it. So this is why we take great offense in the ill prepared. And this is why we have great loyalty to those who understand our mindstate and openly give thanks for their efforts. So to the staff and management of Northstar - We thank you! |
