The weather was a big factor for the Chevy S-10 Grand Prix at Northstar-at-Tahoe. There has been a extreme lack of snow earlier this season in Tahoe. So it was nice to see some precipitation, the rain snow mix on the qualifying day and the snow for the finals second run made the regular size pipe seem even smaller. Most important halfpipe competitions are held in super pipes these days, but the slower snow conditions pretty much made the pipe size a mute point. |

Mark Reilly and Shannon Dunn posted the highest scores in the first run in the best one of two format. As the snow started to pile up and slow things down during the second run, their scores held as other competitors could not top them. |

Ross Powers dug deep to take second place after going out the night before to celebrate his 21st birhtday. Hungover Ross pulled a mctwist to back to back 700s to move into a temporary lead until Mark Reilly did 3 large straight airs to a frontside 7 indy, a cab 3 melon, and a crippler to take home $10K. |

Rob Kingwill - Sato Flip
|
Ricky Bower almost landed a 1080 and ended up in 7th. Tommy Czeshin’s first run included a Haakon 7 to 900 that he scetched a little and ended up in fifth. Two-time Grand Prix winner Rob Kingwill could not make it 3 out of 3. He started out with his signature sato flip, a couple straight airs, 700 flip, and 900 flip. But landed the 900 flip at the bottom of the pipe and ended up a surprising 11th (Hey, wake up judges!). |
