| The 1st contest to be held at the new Truckee Skate Park had a good turn out of talented groms and local rippers. It was pleasantly surprising that everyone there cooperated by clearing the whole park when it was time for the competitors to make their runs. The park just opened around the middle of October 1999. The weather this fall has been unusually warm and the park has been very popular. The contest was put on by Holly Lyons and G-Boy for Totally Board and the $5 entry fee went toward putting up lights so we can ride at night too. Other sponsors included Chocolate, Sector 9, 4 Star, Girl, Powell, Think, and many more. |

Sam Luebke and Rafe Robinson (pictured above) tied for 1st in the intermediate division with some very solid skating for how young they are. We should here more about these guys in the future as they grow up on boards. I would have given the nod to Sam but I was not a judge. Sam was a realy good sport by letting Rafe have the complete board and taking home 2 bags of skate goodies as his prizes. Sam has more sponsors, so new boards are not a problem for him. Nick Pate took 1st in the beginner division. |
| Brian Leger won the advanced division by using the whole park with power and speed. Joel Lemos pulled a string of very impressive moves in his last run to take home 2nd. I think 1st should have gone to Joel but his 1st run was not as strong and he did not use every feature of the outer street style parts of the park. Justin Cox placed 3rd with amplitude and style. |
