Jay Moriarty Tells BoardZ about SHARK SIGHTING

Jay said he was on his paddle board and just rounded the Capitola Peer when he heard something behind him. He turned and saw a rather large shark about 30-40 yards outside thrashing about as it ate something. He could not identify what type of shark it was due to the fact that he was busy double-time paddling for shore and it was gone by the time he had reached safety. This occurred at the most protected part of the Monterey Bay, inside of where some boats are moored for the summer, and in an area where surfers like to surf during the biggest of swells (usually does not break in summer; but it can). Surfers around here have had a certain level of security when surfing in town because so many surf here and all the attacks have been at more remote beaches. False level of security here in town? Maybe? Does the local urban sprawl have the affect of deterring the sharks? Maybe? These thing can not be answered here. Just don't become shark food!!! See ya out there.
