Santa Cruz Native Chris Gallagher Places 2nd in the Quiksilver Pro

Chris's mom came over the other day hoping to check the latest results on the Association of Surfing Professionals Web Site. She said the surf was pumping and that he had broke his board in the 1st round and placed 3rd; forcing him to battle through the rebate rounds. He had made the quarters and she wanted to see how he was doing (I think she had mothers intuition that he would do well). The ASP has been providing live scores to other events this year, but due to being in Java (Indonesia; not the computer language) they were not live. This time, the grapevine (the old fashion way of getting news) was faster: the winner was Luke Egan from Australia with our very own Gally pulling in for second. Ata boy Gally!!!

Gally at the office in Santa Cruz

June 14, 1997 update
Watched the Bulls win with Gally last night. He said that he got the best waves of his life during the 12 day trip. Now this guy has been all around the world many times and had his share of perfect waves; I could tell that he was still in a state of shock from getting so many perfect barrels. There were 3 huge perfect swells that kept the surf pumping the whole time. The surf was waning and a bit choppy for the final and both competitors were not blowing it up; but Luke came up on top by being more consistent.
