Snow Sports Action from the Mountain to Your Computer

Friday, March 19th 1999
The seasons are a changing up here in the Tahoe region. After last weeks chinook winds (warm dry snow eating wind) and this weeks sunny warm days, the snow surface has transformed into a spring like corn snow. This makes for fun riding on different aspects during the day as the sun moves across the sky and does its magic.
Skiing Sequence
Shane McConkey; Fakie to fakie backflip! 		The park is in good shape, the weather has been nice, and a lot of talent is in town; so the action has been intense. 540, 360 double grab, rodeos, switch rodeos - and the snowboarders are going off too! There is a steady stream of talented boarders spinning and flipping, but the newest scene is the core crew of skiers that are pushing the limits. Shane McConkey was the subject of a lot of attention as he did fakie to fakie backflips (on skis).

Boarders and skiers alike are enjoying the March sunshine, but March is usually a wet month so winter may not be done yet. Whatever Mother Nature sends our way,it will all be good with the deep base we have.
